Communicative Disorders Assistant For Audiology

This position is located in Cambridge
This position will involve 4 days per week and approximately 30 hours per week
2 weeks vacation to start

About Us :

Our health care office in Cambridge. Our facility is equipped with the newest technology. This equipment helps us to accurately determine the type, degree and configuration of a person's hearing loss. Only after a thorough assessment, can decisions be made regarding the necessary treatment, which can include hearing aids or referral for medical treatment.

We are seeking to employ a friendly, outgoing, highly motivated individual who is resourceful and very well organized.

Requirements:


The candidate requires excellent communication skills, enjoys working with people, and is caring and empathetic.

Mastery of computer skills (including Windows, Word) is required.

This position requires a graduate certificate as a Communicative Disorders Assistant 2-3 years experience in a healthcare setting and/or in a managerial position is ideal.


Duties:


answering telephones, replying to emails

scheduling appointments

maintain database including inputting new patients, journal entries and updating files

cleaning/maintaining hearing aids and earmolds for patients

selling batteries and other accessories to patients

daily courier bags

keeping track of incoming and outgoing impressions, hearing aid prescriptions, repairs and remakes

maintaining exception rapport with suppliers to ensure highest level of service

infection control/cleaning test equipment and supplies

organizing items in test rooms and waiting room


Specific Duties:

Assist the Audiologists

-hearing aid orientations
-hearing screenings
-outreach programs

Billings
" assist with ADP, WSIB, DVA/VAC, Indian Affairs and all other insurance companies
- billing
- reconciling
- inquiries
- learning regulations and new rules
- assisting patients with inquires about their insurance and determining their coverage

Follow-Up with Patients

-further review and assistance following the initial fitting
-to follow-up on recent adjustments, repairs or remakes

Perform Pre-Fitting Check

-ensure that the hearing aid prescription has been filled correctly and that the aids are functioning properly.

Prepare real-ear system.

-turn on equipment
-replace probe tube microphones after every patient
-calibrate probe microphones
-calibrate test chamber

Special Projects

- will discuss as implemented. May include administration of a battery club, assistive listening device demonstrations, outreach programs.
